"Framing"

When I was abroad in Australia I was so used to buying groceries in America that when I went to the store in Australia everything was so expensive. Daily necessary items like milk and bread were so out of control expensive that I did not even want to buy them. Going to Australia the America dollar was worth more, but in the end it all equaled out to be more expensive and costly. In America I was used to going to get coffee and getting a large cup but in Australia even a cup of coffee is much smaller and more expensive. I was so American oriented and framed by our society and how things cost that when I went to Australia I was in shock. It was hard to explain to my parents that the cost of living their was much more expensive that they didn't understand why it was more expensive. I told my parents that I was only going to need about 2 thousand dollars in spending so they were primed that was all I was going to need. In the end I spent over 3 thousand dollars and about 2 thousand of that was on food and necessary items. Hopefully when I go to New Zealand next semester that I will be more prepared and not be as framed to the american cultural.

"Joining In or Staying Out"

Being Student Ambassador for our University is a great group but also very selective to who they let in. It is a privilege to be apart of the Student Ambassador because you get to work for the president of the University. You are also a advocate for other students and people look up to you as a leader and as a person who knows a lot about the school. People know we are Student Ambassadors because we wear these high class navy blue blazers that have a big student ambassador logo on the right hand side of the jacket. We stand out in a crowed and people look for us when were at events for the school. Not everyone can be a Student Ambassador. You have to be very comfortable with talking to complete strangers and having a out going personality is very important. We are a very tight group and work hard to look good for the school and having the blazers are a big part of looking the part.

"The Pretty Good Problem"

I have been in love with Tom Shoes for as long as I can remember. Its a great company that gives back to children in need. Forever pair of shoes you buy a child in Africa receive a pair for free. I currently own 5 pairs of Tom Shoes but was looking for one more pair to spice up my collection. I found this great pair of silver sparkle Toms that looks fabulous and go with almost everything. Their fun and out going while keeping a cool undertone look so you can wear them everyday. These shoes are remarkable in every way because I get so many complements and they always top off my outfits. I have finished my collection of Tom Shoes for now, but who knows I might find another wild pair in a couple of months.

Trendspotting in Fitness and Nutrition

Fitness and nutrition has become a very popular topic in the past couple of years. People will do anything to be thin and to stay skinny. People will even take supplements to increase there metabolism. Green Tea being one of many things you can take but now also being questionable for its nutrition value. Consumers will buy and have the mind set of being thin and how important it is. Even as young teen girls starting the trend to be thin and then sometimes eating disordering come into place. Young teens encourage other teens to be thin or "I want to be like her" attitude, which is unhealthy. Now sometimes mothers will encourage their teens to be thin and to work out to the max to fit in with the other teen girls. Their are many different trends in fitness such as what to wear when you work out and what to eat. Green tea vitamins have been around for a while and have become more popular over the years due to its advertisements and other ways to promote its natural enhancement.

Sketch Book

I bought this sketch book for my Visual Communications class. It is a necessary tool because I need to be able to draw out my ideas and show my professor what type of visual learner I am. I bought the bigger sketch book because I wanted more space to draw out my ideas. Right now there is nothing in my sketch book, but by the end of the week I'm sure I will have a couple of quick sketches for the class. One of our assignments is to draw a "mind map". This is a visual map of ideas and things that we perceive and process through our mind. I am excited to draw this and looking forward to the class as well.
